What is first angle  and third angle projection method of engineering drawing?

First angle projection method is a way of representing three-dimensional objects in two dimensions through technical drawings. It is one of the two ways of orthographic projection, the other being third angle projection.

In first angle projection, the front view of the object is placed on the right side of the paper and the top view of the object is placed on the left side of the paper. The third view, the side view, is placed below the front view. This method is commonly used in Europe and many other countries.

The first angle projection method is based on the concept that the object being drawn is located in the first quadrant of the Cartesian coordinate system and the observer is located in the third quadrant, looking towards the object. This method is useful in creating technical drawings, such as blueprints, as it allows engineers and designers to visualize the object from multiple perspectives.

In third angle projection method, the front view of the object is placed on the left side of the paper and the top view of the object is placed on the right side of the paper. The third view, the side view, is placed above the front view. This method is used primarily in North America and Japan.

The third angle projection method is based on the concept that the object being drawn is located in the first quadrant of the Cartesian coordinate system and the observer is located in the third quadrant, looking towards the object. This method is useful in creating technical drawings, such as blueprints, as it allows engineers and designers to visualize the object from multiple perspectives.

It helps the designer to understand the object from the real world point of view, as the observer is standing in front of the object and the object is represented as it would appear in the real world, including hidden lines and surfaces. This method is widely used in industries such as mechanical, architectural and manufacturing engineering.

The key difference between first angle and third angle projection is the placement of views on the paper, first angle projection is commonly used in Europe and many other countries, while third angle projection is used primarily in North America and Japan.

following are the symbols used in this projections methods :
